Naturopathic approach to healthy skin

Naturopathy is an approach towards healing that makes use of natural resources, such as the food we eat, the water we drink or bathe in and the air we breathe, to help the body heal itself.

Naturopaths regard disease as a natural phenomenon brought about by the body getting out of balance through poor diet, lack of exercise, harmful emotions, accumulation of toxins, inherited factors, unhealthy environment, etc. We also believe that the body possesses a vital force that enables it to heal itself.

The aim of treatment is to support the body as it heals itself. Diet is one of the most important tools in naturopathy and there is an emphasis on eating whole foods such as vegetables. Where allergies and intolerance are involved, as they may be in eczema, elimination diets can be an important part of treatment. Detoxification is also a dietary approach to rest the digestive system and help to get rid of the toxins from the body.
